Page 2 of 5 Causes: Hangovers occur in the morning and are caused by an excess intake of alcohol the night before. Hangovers are drug withdrawals and as the blood alcohol level drops, the brain is affected and craves more alcohol. Dehydration and low blood sugar levels are responsible for many of the symptoms and thus it is important to drink plenty of water and eat a light meal before drinking. Avoid mixing several different drinks and avoid alcoholic intake on an empty stomach. What to Expect: You will feel weak, nauseas, irritable, and tired. A headache or migraine headache often develops as well.
