Page 1 of 4 (also referred to as...) Glandular Fever, Infectious Mononucleosis, Kissing Disease, Mono Description Mononucleosis, or "Mono", is an acute, viral, infection. It usually develops if the virus is first encountered during adolescence or as a young adult when your immune response is most zealous. Kissing is a common mode of transmission and thus accounts for the nick-name "Kissing Disease". Symptoms and Signs: Symptoms of mono include a sore throat and swollen lymph glands in the neck, usually accompanied by a fever. Sometimes, mild liver damage may occur, leading to jaundice for a few days, but it is not serious.
