Glandular Fever, Infectious Mononucleosis, Kissing Disease, Mono

Description

Mononucleosis, or "Mono", is an acute, viral, infection. It usually develops if the virus is first encountered during adolescence or as a young adult when your immune response is most zealous. Kissing is a common mode of transmission and thus accounts for the nick-name "Kissing Disease".

Symptoms and Signs:

Symptoms of mono include a sore throat and swollen lymph glands in the neck, usually accompanied by a fever.

Sometimes, mild liver damage may occur, leading to jaundice for a few days, but it is not serious.
