Typically when I pick up the paper, or pass by the local town square, or make casual (and uninformed) observations at the mall, I sigh and feel a sense of despair.

Where is the good?  Where has it gone?

Does anyone still care?!

We are bombarded with so many messages each and every day.  Death here.  Killing there.  Starvation elsewhere.  Numbers and statistics blend together and it seems like we become numb to it all.

While this goes on, corporations target an ever-younger "consumer" and our kids increasingly have less and less of a chance to be...just...kids.  Apathy abounds.  As does materialism.  Where are the values?  Who is asking why we're doing what we're doing?

Why does my son's school so obsessively focus on performance and homework (for SK's?!) and having the best standardized tests?  Where are the classes on simply being a good citizen?  On caring?  On community?  On leaning how to cook or to do simple repairs?  Something....many things...seem to have gotten lost along the way.

It seems like we're sacrificing generations of children...mere school-ized worker bees...to an increasingly dominant corporate engine.*sigh*

...

Then a friend forwarded the video below.  It reminded me that the undercurrents of goodness do run strong through every home, village, and city.  Take a look and do pass this blog entry on to others, if it works for you.
