It delays muscle degeneration by supplying additional creatine (another amino acid found in muscle tissue) and is used in the formation of DNA and RNA. Glycine is likely the third major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain and readily passes the blood-brain barrier. Glycine is important for synthesizing nucleic acids, bile acids, and other non-essential amino acids. It is found in high concentrations in the skin and connective tissues and is important for proper function of the central nervous system and prostate.
