Ailments / Situations Where Used

Methionine is considered a lipotropic agent and works with choline and inositol to help prevent excess accumulation of fat and cholesterol in the liver. It helps prevent muscle weakness, radiation damage, and is good for people with chemical allergies. It may also prove useful as part of a weight loss strategy.

Methionine is known to prevent or help treat brittle hair, cataracts, Gilbert's syndrome (a liver function anomaly), osteoporosis, Parkinson's disease, and schizophrenia. It may benefit women who use contraceptive pills as it promotes estrogen excretion. Methionine may also help prevent liver diseases and is often used in combination with other treatments for liver diseases.
