Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins, OPCs, Pine Bark Extract

Latin Name: Pinus spp

Description

Pycnogenol is extracted from the bark of French maritime pine trees grown in the south of France. The resulting extract contains approximately forty antioxidants and a number of flavonoid compounds, making pycnogenol one of the most potent antioxidant preparations currently available. One particular flavonoid of note is oligomeric proanthocyanidins, or OPC. OPCs may be as much as fifty times more potent than vitamin E and twenty times more potent than vitamin C in terms of their bioavailable antioxidant ability. OPCs are also found in grape seed extract.

Pycnogenol offers dietary support to the circulatory system. It supports the health of blood vessels and provides adequate blood flow to organs and tissues. Pycnogenol contains water soluble organic acids such as glucosides, glucose esters, and other highly useful biologically active components.
