Latin Name: Stryax benzoin

Description

Benzoin is distilled from the resin that is extracted from the trees that grow in Asia. Benzoin has been cultivated since the time of the Greeks and Romans. Benzoin is said to have been used by Queen Elizabeth I for skin care. Its vanilla-like scent is very pleasing. Benzoin has anti-inflammatory properties that will soothe chapped skin and promote the healing of new cells. Internally, it is considered a toxic oil, and should never be taken by mouth.

 

Ailments / Situations Where Used

The scent is emotionally comforting and helpful for lifting sadness and depression.

 

Preparations

For depression, add 1 drop benzoin to 5mL jojoba, and wear as a perfume, or diffuse pure benzoin into the air

For chapped akin, add one drop of benzoin to 5mL avocado oil, and massage in.
