Latin Name: Juniperus communis

Description

Extracted from juniper berries only, juniper oil has a wonderfully crisp, green odour. There are juniper oils available that are produced from branches, needles, and twigs. They lack the clarity and effectiveness of the oil produced from berries. In order to obtain the clear, thin oil of this bush, its berries or twigs are steam distilled. Its scent is powerful, fresh and woodsy. Juniper is said to clean the atmosphere of a room, and assist with meditation.

Ailments / Situations Where Used

Physically, it is a diuretic and is often included in anti-cellulite blends. It may be helpful with arthritis and rheumatism. Juniper oil is very effective in purifying the blood, as it is detoxifying, toning, and antibacterial. As an inhalant, it is very useful in the treatment of respiratory conditions. It is also helpful in the treatment of acne.
