Latin Name: Centaurium umbellatum

Description

Characteristic: Trying to Please Others

Centaury is one of Bach's original twelve remedies. It is for people that find it difficult to say no. This remedy should be taken by those who find it hard to stand up for themselves. They are anxious, full of kindness and easy to please. They do not want to let people down and thus would rather sacrifice their own wishes and co-operate with others in order to maintain the peace. They may be dissatisfied with the current state of affairs but would rather feel this way then deal with a potential confrontation. These individuals tend to be timid, quiet, and passive and have little strength to project their own vocations. They may feel bound to their family, because it would be too hurtful to others to see them go, even if within they desire personal freedom.

Ailments / Situations Where Used

Centaury will give the strength when the need arises in order to gain the respect and appreciation deserved. This will help them project their wishes outwards. They will help others wisely and quietly but when the limit has been reached they will feel confident in their decision to say no. A strong individuality and balance will be attained in which the person can mix well with others and support his/her own opinions.
