Latin Name: Castanea sativa

Description

Characteristic: Absolute Despair

To be taken when a person is contained with feelings of utter despair, in which no hope is seen in the near future. They may feel desolate and heartbroken, or feel so terrible that they can no longer think of existing and yet suicide is not a realistic alternative as even this can not stop the pain within. There is no longer any joy in their life and they do not know how to deal with the inner torment, or bring it to an end.

Warning: This remedy should only be taken when absolutely necessary.

Ailments / Situations Where Used

Sweet Chestnut is not an anti-depressant that will numb or block the pain felt, but rather will unblock the source of emotion causing the grief, thus enabling the pain to move freely and be eliminated. Faith is restored and slowly glimmers of hope are seen, leading to bouts of sunshine and, at last, the torment will cease.
