Gotu Kola, Dried
Latin Name: Centella asiatica Family: Umbelliferae/Apiaceae Description Gotu kola is well respected for its calming properties of both the mind and the body. It is considered a "balancing" herb in Ayurvedic medicine that promotes relaxation and engages the senses. Yogis often add gotu kola to the diet to achieve a meditative state and improve recall. Indeed, elephants (who "never forget") often graze on the leaves of this plant. This herb contains brahmoside and brahminoside, two saponin glycosides with sedative properties. It is also high in B vitamins
