Aconite is primarily used for acute conditions arising from shock or exposure where there is great fear of death, panic disorders, anxiety, and restlessness. It may be used whenever a violent or frightening event occurs. This remedy will also help release shock or fright that has been held in the body or mind for a long period of time.

Aconite can be used at the beginning of colds and the flu where there is a sudden onset of flu symptoms. A fever may be present and clear, hot, nasal discharge occurs shortly after being chilled. Other symptoms include a sore throat, earaches, cough, and a great thirst for cold drinks.

Aconite is also the main remedy for early stages of croup.
