St. John's Wort

Latin Name: Hypericum perforatum

 
Description

Well known for its herbal use in dealing with depression, this herb is also highly effective in treating a number of ailments at homeopathic doses. Hypericum is commonly prepared both as an ointment for external application and as a homeopathic tincture.


 

Ailments / Situations Where Used

This remedy is useful for treating injuries of the nerve endings, ailments resulting from an old head injury, and trauma of the serebro-spinal system. Hypericum pain is sharp and shooting resulting from contusions, lacerations, and punctures to areas rich in nerves: tips of fingers, tongue, teeth, eyes, et cetera.

Injuries of the spine, including herniated discs, usually require Hypericum. This remedy is also useful for treating fractures and sprains with sharp shooting pains made worse when person is moving.

An external application is used for infected or deep cuts.
