Symptoms experienced by Mercurius individuals are aggravated at night or by extreme temperatures. They also sweat profusely at night (night sweats), with excessive saliva. Ear pus and mucus is yellow or greenish in colour and is foul smelling.

Mercurius acts very well upon the  digestive system in cases of fetid, foul smelling breath, excessive drooling at night with fetid, viscous saliva, greenish bloody or viscous stools, and a sensation of being "never done".

This remedy may also prove helpful in acute or chronic pharyngitis, streptococcal sore throat, and can help eliminate a metallic taste in the mouth.
